Youth and Power

The youth's role in governance has been reduced to opening whatsapp and facebook groupsfor politicians during campaigns and using them to shout down and insult those with divergent opinions ostensibly to mobilise campaigns and votes. However, once the politicians win, the youth are dropped and turned as lazy and idle beggars. T.E Lawrence in his book, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, states;" We lived many lives in those whirling campaigns, never sparing ourselves: yet when we achieved and the new world dawned, the old men came out and took our victory to remake it in the likeness of former world they knew..Youth could win but had not learned to keep and was pitiably weak against age. We scammered that we had worked for a new heaven and a new earth, and they thanked us kindly and made their peace.
