SELF EMPLOYMENT AND THE RULES

People are always determined to make money. To be self employed, you'll need to make your own money by selling either a product or a service. You work for yourself (you are your own boss).

You work often without an office, you make your own decisions. You don't get paid for working and at the start you may not be able to draw a salary. You can grow or break your job depending on the decisions you make. Therefore, you make your own job security(will it survive till tomorrow?).

Always consider the cost of running your business;transport cost, buying raw materials, wages to be paid e.t.c.It takes thoughtful decision making for you to start making profits.

 Rules of self employment

1.Be motivated.                                                                                                                  This is driven by a sense of purpose i.e why did you consider self employment?. You should know what drove you to start your business, why you are looking to be your own boss.

2.Be disciplined.                                                                                                                  You control your business and nobody is coming in to help you.You will have to complete your tasks in time. You should be ready to work without supervision and therefore staying motivated is up to you.

3.Business knowledge.                                                                                                  Master the business language and the art of communication so you can convince you customers and investors that you are the best for them in the market.

 4. Find your own opportunities.                                                                                    Opportunities are everywhere and you will have to choose them wisely.

5.Plan and focus.                                                                                                           You'll need to manage your time properly. Balance between work and personal time. Do not get distracted from your purpose.

Youth and Power

The youth's role in governance has been reduced to opening whatsapp and facebook groupsfor politicians during campaigns and using them to shout down and insult those with divergent opinions ostensibly to mobilise campaigns and votes. However, once the politicians win, the youth are dropped and turned as lazy and idle beggars. T.E Lawrence in his book, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, states;" We lived many lives in those whirling campaigns, never sparing ourselves: yet when we achieved and the new world dawned, the old men came out and took our victory to remake it in the likeness of former world they knew..Youth could win but had not learned to keep and was pitiably weak against age. We scammered that we had worked for a new heaven and a new earth, and they thanked us kindly and made their peace. Youth are known to give the best that money can buy when tasked with roles which require a lot of energy, dedication and audacity making them handy during vote mobilisation and protecti...

HOW DO I INTRODUCE MYSELF DURING AN INTERVIEW?

Well, whatever you do, don't be vague and shy away from the opportunity to promote yourself. "Tell us more about yourself" is the common question in most interviews. Remember your interviewers possibly may already have an idea of who you are. This probably gives you space to talk more about the experience and accomplishments you posses. It's good you mention much about your experience and a thing or two about what you might have achieved. Do not establish your authority or credibility. Confidence should be considered a lot. Improve on your posture, dress well, avoid your phone, do not talk about your income, smile, stay humble ALWAYS ANSWER ONE QUESTION AT A TIME

BE INFORMED 🤔

✓Education is not a way of escaping poverty, it is a way of fighting poverty. ✓The fact that you are suffering now does not mean you will be successful in future. Hardwork is what determines success hence you shouldn't relax because you are suffering. ✓Make hay while the sun shines. Work hard while you can. Do not wait for tomorrow lest it may not come.

Scammers in online work

Online jobs have recently proved to be the most paying in Kenya. They have created employment to youths who were jobless and had lost hope in life. However, with the increasing number of youths who are subscribing to the internet for jobs, there are 'conmen' who have now resorted to stealing cash from them. They come up with fake accounts and convincing information claiming to recruit them to their platforms.  Online work needs extra training from a recognized training agent or platform. Online training takes some time of not less than two days where you may start earning immediately after training. Online scammers do exaggerate their earning to create eagerness hence finding it easy to steal fom their victims. Always take care when joining an online earning platform.
